The Nigeria Police Welfare Insurance Scheme came into existence 1st May, 1992 as the first ever effort by the Police authority to provide Insurance cover for officers and men of the Nigeria Police. The programme is designed to compensate members of the NPF who might have suffered accident, injury and death in the course of their official duty. As a contributory welfare programme, the Scheme covers the following benefits.
Death Benefits
Personal Disability
Medical Expenses, and
Withdrawal Benefits.

Every serving member of the NPF contributes part of their monthly salary towards the Scheme according to individual ranks. Below therefore, is the table showing breakdown of contributions and benefits accruing to members of the NPF:-
